What is the Church of Christ?  What do we believe?

Who are these People?

We are a non-denominational religious unity, based upon the Bible as our only rule of faith and practice. Our goal is to become Christians Only and restore the Christianity recorded in the Bible. We do not perceive of ourselves as a “new Church” or a “new movement” rather, an attempt to restore, in this modern age, the original church established in A.D. 30.
Each Church of Christ is autonomous and no central organization binds us together. The plurality of elders is selected by each congregation using biblical principles (I Timothy 3:1-8). They are shepherds responsible for the spiritual growth and maturity of that congregation.  Our common faith in Jesus as the Son of God, the Biblical principles on which we are founded, and the cooperation of various communities of believers in good works are the primary ties from one congregation to another. There is no earthly authority superior to the elders of the local congregation.

We have no man-made creed since we believe the Bible to be all sufficient and the only guide authorized by Christ for his church. Study of the Bible and deference to its direction is used in settling every spiritual question. In the Bible, God who loves us has graciously
provided guidance and wisdom concerning every spiritual and human situation. When His directions are followed, we can and will live abundant lives.

Our Worship

If you have not attended a Church of Christ before, you may be surprised to note that acapella singing (without instruments) is the only music used in our worship services. We do not dislike musical instruments, however, our aim is to reproduce the church of the New Testament in modern times, and since acapella singing was used both in the apostolic church and for several centuries thereafter, we also follow this practice (Ephesians 5:19). A central event in our Sunday’s assembly worship together is the eating of the Lord’s Supper (Acts 20:7). In this act we proclaim our faith that His death was for our sins and our confidence that He will come again and take us home. Also on the first day of each week, members of this congregation make free-will gifts as they have been prospered financially so the good works of the church can continue to God’s glory (I Corinthians 16:2).  The amount is usually known only to the giver and God. Visitors are neither urged nor expected to contribute. This is for family--you are our guests.

Our Desire
We would like to assist you further in your personal quest to learn about and serve God. If you indicate your interest, we have members ready and anxious to study God’s Word with you. Our only motivation is to share with more people His Love and Glory, so that more may share in His blessings.
